Interviewing Ravellas

While spending my summer on Soundcloud, I came across Ravellas. I fell in love with this bands only single at the time, 'Momentos and Coke', and since then every release has been perfect.

I've had a rant a couple times about this band and earlier this week I had the absolute joy of Mac, lead vocalist, guitarist and 'chief', take me through the pre-chaotic world of Ravellas, which consists of S-club 7 fused with the Arctic Monkeys and a lack of Liam Gallagher.

SBLM – For the people who have never heard of you before can you explain who you are as band and what your musical style is?

Ravellas - I'm Mac lead vocalist, guitarist and chief. We have the half-witted Bish, on lead guitar, back up vocals and co song writer. Aidan who likes to climb walls and bang drums and last but not least Cristy on the bass.
We don't like to define ourselves as anything with out sounding to cliché. We're somewhere between indie rock and indie pop.

SBLM – What musicians would you say you are similar to ?

Ravellas – S-club 7 and Hearsay fused with Arctic monkeys and foals.

SBLM – What is something unusual thing people might not know about you ?

Ravellas – Despite the mushroom hair cut, his love of pretty green and all things Britpop, Bishop has no idea who Liam Gallagher is.

SBLM – What is the best show you've played and why ?

Ravellas – We've had quite a few decent little support slots were the place was packed but our favourite show so far is one we put on ourselves in Wigan our home town cause everyone who was there was there to see us.

SBLM – Who would be your ideal band to tour with ?

Ravellas – I'd love nothing more than the bands who are unsigned and gigging round the northwest who were mates with to all make it at the same time. If I'm short of inspiration I'd much rather look at what's happening with bands like Lyon Road, Vtnce and Cactus Knife who are bands we've played with and are our mates.

SBLM – What is the ultimate direction for the band ?

Ravellas – I mean we're taking it one step at a time at the minute. Try and release better quality with each release but we'd be lying if we said the end goal wasn't to be headlining festivals etc

SBLM – The end of 2015 isn't far away, have you got any upcoming tours, singles or album releases (which I cannot wait for) ?

Ravellas – We're coming out the back end of what isn't really a tour but the busiest we've been as a band with gigs. We've recorded a little EP that were planning to release soon but that's just to tie up the knots to the first chapter of Ravellas. We just happened to have 4 songs recorded so we might as well stick them on a cd together. We're already looking at trying for another EP which were hoping will be bigger and better.

SBLM – Is there anything you want to say to your current fans ?

Ravellas – Hi! I didn't know we had any! Tell all your other mates about us and get them all come to our gigs!

SBLM – What would you say to people who have just heard your music for the first time ?

Ravellas – It's alright int it? :)

SBLM – Last but not least, what advice would you give to other bands who are just staring out ?

Ravellas – Don't put anything out you don't think is up to scratch. You can't unhear a song. Too many bands start off on the wrong foot, so don't be afraid to be professional.

SBLM – Mac from Ravellas thank you so much for this, its been great. Good luck with the EP and I cannot wait to see what else is to come.

This band are genuinely incredible. For the last two years I said Catfish and the Bottlemen would be big, and now their selling out UK and US tours, debuting on The Late Show With David Letterman, headlining festival main stages, becoming the biggest upcoming indie band of 2015. There was something I just loved about them. Their drive to do anything to play live, to get noticed, to become something and its the exact same with this band.

Ravellas. Their indie, they're from Wigan and one of the biggest bands upcoming indie bands of the next few years.
