Within the next three months, three debut albums will be released from bands we cannot get enough of. Blaenavon, The Amazons and The Lapelles.
Blaenavon are FINALLY releasing their debut album. I've mentioned this band so many times over the last few months. They have featured in so many playlists and now, finally, they're releasing their debut album.
Named 'That's Your Lot' and featuring the tracks Orthodox Man and My Bark Is Your Bite, the album will be released on the 7th of April through Transgressive and Canvasback Records. This summer they're playing at Kendal Calling, Tramlines and at Osheaga Music & Arts 2017 (Montreal). Before their festival appearances is their huge UK tour with support from The Night Cafe and Anteros. On the day of the album's release, the band are playing at Londons Heaven (7th of April), which finishes the tour. If you're into the Magic Gang, Swim Deep, High Tyde or JAWS I'm pretty sure you'll like this band. Tickets for the tour are on sale now (linked below). If you get the chance I strongly advise you to get to a date on this tour.
Just as the suspense was becoming unbearable, built up by small teaser clips, new tracks and the occasional music video, it is finally time for the Amazons debut album to be released. This album has been a long time coming. Whether you found this band through social media, by accident or through BBC Introducing's Sound of 2017 shortlist, you need this album just as much as I do.
Again, this band are touring to promote this album. Currently, the band are on tour with You Me At Six in Europe before returning to the UK for their own headline tour.
The albums going to be released on the 2nd of June through Fiction Records, which you can pre-order now.
Due to be released in June (no specific date confirmed yet), the Lapelles debut album will be released via Dead Beet Records on limited edition 12" vinyl. The Lapelles are a band I adore. An East Kilbride, upcoming band who were starting to pick up momentum. Playing at T In The Park, at Belladrum, in King Tuts and touring with the Kooks, Blossoms, The View and The Last Shadow Puppets, this band were quickly making a name for themselves.
With a huge UK tour in October last year, the band were set for 2016 to be their biggest year yet. The band never made it to their headline tour, nor their support sets with the View or All Tvvins. On August 22nd, The Lapelles lost their lead singer Gary Watson through an accident. Earlier last year we lost Viola Beach, another small upcoming band with a huge creative force and six months later the upcoming music scene was hit with another loss.
This album, alike Viola Beach's, is made up of studio and home recordings. A lot of the versions or full tracks we, as the listeners and fans, may never have heard. The material that may have never been released. It isn't about loss. It isn't about tragedy. It's the demos that were recorded to work on at a later date, the new tracks that weren't released and the songs that were played on tour.
The album consists of 10 tracks, listed below, and are available to download on pre-order of the album.

I talk about new music a lot on this blog. It's my biggest love. It's a community of people; creatives, musicians, dreamers and realists, who at their hearts love music. It's where grass root musicians cut their teeth and find their way in the world as a band. This band were on their way to something bigger, much bigger. The band's promoter, Christ Beltran, commented, “It wasn’t a case of if this band was going to go onto bigger things, it was when”. I have never stood by a statement more.
Please, if this band meant anything to you, buy this album. Support the band and the music which was created. Support the upcoming Scottish music scene, the people who helped make this album possible and create a legacy for this album.
