Review : Latitude Festival 2014

Last weekend, Henham Park, Southwold, Suffolk came alive as the Latitude Festival returned. The festival started in 2006 and is on its eight year featuring live musicians, theater performances, cabaret digital arts while showcasing upcoming artists. The line up this weekend was again incredible alike every year.

The Obelisk Arena stage, the main stage of the festival, had Crystal Fighters, Damon Albarn, Bombay Bicycle Club, First Aid Kit, Tame Impala, Haim and the Black Keys. Lilly Allen replaced the almighty Two Door Cinema Club who pulled out due to a last minuet illness. Even with the criticism she covered the bands single 'Something Good Can Work'.

The iArena stage houses some of the best upcoming acts along with the Lake Stage created by Radio One DJ Huw Stephens and the Alcove which features some local Suffolk artists. The upcoming acts tend to blow people away and this weekend was no different with performances from East India Youth, Young Fathers, These Ghosts, MOKO, James Bay, Slaves, Glass Animals, Catfish and the Bottlemen and Circa Waves.

This is becoming a major UK festival and soon I think it will be a contender like T in the park and Glastonbury. The difference is with this festival is that it caters for families, adults, teenagers and young children with workshops and child friendly performances. I love the concept of this festival and festivals alike as they allow full families to enjoy a good day out, letting parents enjoy huge festival performances and allowing the kids to have fun.
