Slam Dunk 2017

Slam Dunk is tomorrow and we cannot wait for it.

Sitting our hotel room across from Birmingham's NEC, we feel like kids on the night before Christmas. Tomorrow is the day. Slam Dunk 2017.

The response to this years line up has been mixed but with the likes of Like Pacfic, Boston Manor, Seaway, Trophy Eyes and what looks to be a huge closing-of-the-night set from Neck Deep, we are in our element.

We love heading out to festivals like this because there's an atmosphere that exists in very few other places. The sheer amount of people at one event, celebrating and singing along to music you love or maybe have never heard of before. Whether you plan to (or not) you have conversations with complete strangers about how great someones set was or who your looking forward to catching later. You become part of a huge community which other people don't realise exists in the UK. Just because we don't have warped tour doesn't mean we can't have festivals with similar line ups. Ours may lack the good weather Warped tends to be blessed with but we have a Brittish resiliance to stand in the pouring rain and start up mosh pits in the dark lit with phone torches and the occasional passing stage light.

The weekend looks to be as huge as ever so we've compiled a list of all the people we want to catch live this weekend. With 8 stages it is a bit of a struggle and in an ideal world there would be no such thing as sets clashing with other sets but we know it to be painfully true so we're aiming to hop about from stage to stage to see the majority of peoples sets before heading off to the next set.

Of course this is only the sets we want to see. Rocksound have the full listing with stage times and they're also on the official Slam Dunk app.

This may be some peoples first time at Slam Dunk or any festival for that matter, and after what has just happened in Manchester we get it if your hesitant to come or if you feel nervous. We are all still in shock. As a country which has its history intertwined with music, it was a hard hit to our collective community of music lovers. The resiliance we spoke about exists and events like this prove it. We are still going to gigs and festivals. We are still doing what we love and listening to the music we love. No one will stop us from doing so.

We hope you enjoy Slam Dunk as much as we intend to, if your going and if not, have a great weekend.

Also, be sure to check out our instagram story because its where we'll be posting clips from all the sets we make it to with our pics to follow sometime next week.
