The Albums We Cannot Wait For

Whilst everyones still talking about the Killers come back, the new Arcade Fire album or are still in the process of playing Kasabians 'For Crying Out Loud' a bit too loudly to celebrate its release, we're already looking ahead to some of our long awaited releases all due in the next four weeks.

Starting off with Rat Boy's debut album 'Scum' which comes out tomorrow! It's pretty scary. We've always known a Rat Boy album was coming. It's existence isn't the surprising or scary part, it's the fact this debuts being internationally released via Parlophone Records (part of the Warner Music Group) when the first time we heard Rat Boy we expected a debut which Rat Boy (Jordan Cardy) would have to burn to disc himself and get his band to help hide copies on people's windscreens.

If you have never heard of Rat Boy don't immediately jump to Spotify or Apple music. Dive into fans gig videos, interviews with Cardy, the bands festival sets and live interviews. Listening to Rat Boy tracks like 'Laidback' deceive you into thinking Cardya and his band are calm and collected, harmless young people in love - 'just like any other band'. That's where you're wrong. So wrong. And that is the genius of this Cardy's music.

You can get drawn in on the niceties, then you listen to tracks like 'Sign On', 'Revolution', 'Fake ID', you see the bands social media and realise this band are so much more. Artists, musicians, people willing to talk about the social injustices and difficulties people live with in this country from loosing jobs, falling into the traps of fake ID and generally being annoyed with the society which they choose to rebel against.

There is a growing young consciousness in the UK and musicians like Rat Boy are part of this generation, using every platform they can get on to to say something worthwhile and important to the generation who get routinely passed off as 'young and unsure'.

At just 21, Jordan Cardy and his band (Harry Todd, Liam Haygarth and Noah Booth) are quickly becoming something huge. Becoming the band your mum doesn't want you listening to but secretly likes them herself.

We could talk about this next band forever. From the most northenly town on the Brittish mainland come Neon Waltz. We love this band. Absolutelty love them. A few years ago we wrote about them as part of our Sound Of 2016. We hoped for a tour and a debut album. We were one year ahead but now, it is the time for their awaited debut album. Due on the 18th of August it's called 'Strange Hymns' and it is going to be the perfect album to round off summer with.

We're not listening to this album pre-release mainly because we want it to be a surprise. Yes we've been waiting for the last two years for a debut album from this band and we could have been sitting here, right now with a pre-release copy to write a piece on but we chose not to. The two years of waiting will be worth it when we can hold the physical copy on release day.

We're already in love with the first track off the album Heavy Heartless (below) and tomorrow morning the band are dropping the second new album track 'Bring Me To Light'.

Other than a few tracks we know nothing about this album (we're not wanting to spoil it for ourselves) but what we do know is there will be surprises and tracks which you will become obsessed with. That's what Neon Waltz do best.

Announced days before their headline closing sets at Slam Dunk festival, the Neck Deep dropped two brand new songs and gave us the news we had all been waiting for - their new album's release date.

Creating the follow up record to their huge second album 'Life's Not Out To Get You', Neck Deep had their work cut out for them.

Due on the 18th of August, the bands highly anticipated third album is named 'The Peace and The Panic' and being released via our favourites in Hopeless Records. We're already in love with the album art and we're pretty sure this album will be a 2017 favourite.

If you were at Slam Dunk this year you will know what we mean when we say there is alot of love and excitement surrounding this band. We were at the Birmingham date, meaning we were there the day the band announced their huge UK tour coming later this year and the first people to share 'Happy Judgement Day' and 'Where Do We Go When We Go?' live with the band (which were released just six days before).

Even at eleven at night with the sun setting behind the festivals main outdoor stage, everyone was out and singing all the words to these songs as if they had known them a life time.

We left this album till last for no reason other than it makes us feel really old.

In October 2014 we went to Barrowlands to see Twin Atlantic. Supporting were The Xcerts and Nothing But Thieves, who we had found just weeks prior to the band being announced as the support. Excited but not knowing what to expect, the band blew us away.

Eight months later, we came across the band again supporting Young Guns. It was a different venue, but the band were the same but had clearly grown since the last time we saw them. Captivating an audience is something this band are great at. Half way through the set, the band started playing 'If I Get High' and the crowd went silent. Never before have we saw a support band have that sort of reaction from a crowd who primarily aren't there for them. If you know the track, you know what we mean and can believe how in awe we all were that night.

Since, the band have headlined multiple festivals (UK and abroad) and even supported Muse on their 'Drones' tour. The bands self titled debut album 'Nothing But Thieves' was released in Ocotber 2015, making it to no. 1 in the vinyl chart.

Their new album however, 'Broken Machine', is being released in just four weeks time on the 8th of September via Sony Music.

Already they've released two tracks, 'Sorry' and 'Amsterdam', which we love, dance to and get emotional with. If the bands debut album was anything to go by, this album is going to be huge and full of surprise favourites.
