Summer Playlist 2017

We are playlist people. (You probably already know that.)

Our summer playlist is always our most requested playlist. The past few years we have collated our favourite tracks of the year and curated the Shybutlovesmusic Summer Playlist. Each time, we've brought together brand new tracks, old favourites and a few songs we can't get out of our heads.

Following the other changes we've went through this year, we decided to change our summer playlist slightly. It's time to try something kind of 'new'.

This years summer playlist is purely new music. Full of upcoming artists, new tracks and no huge names in sight. (Depending on how closely you follow new music, depends on how far you agree with us.)

You'll recognise a few names from this year's festival line ups and recent releases. There's debut singles from new artists, all time favourite tracks and a few surprises from our friends.

We want to make this our biggest feature for new artists. We want to make it 'the playlist' that people want to feature on. It's about giving artists and musicians we love a proper place to feature and getting new music out to a huge listening audience who are searching for new music(which you are all part of).

As with new music, not every track we love is avaible everywhere. Giants like Apple Music and Spotify aren't home to every single song out there, especially when it comes to upcoming artists' releases, so creating a playlist solely on one of the sites would mean we'd have to miss out a few tracks we love.

Not wanting to be people confinded by streaming services, we're creating the playlist on Spotify but it will miss a few tracks. The only place you can find our entire playlist is here, and a full run down of why we picked every track is going to be in Social Sounds Issue 2 (due August).

(If you're new to the blog, this may seem like a very weird looking playlist (because it is). It may be strange but its our way of getting round problems and being able to feature every track possible.)

So here is our Summer Playlist 2017.

As you may or may not know, we teamed up with people at Social Sounds to bring their online music magazine to life. Issue one is out now, avaible for free at https://issuu.com/socialsounds and the second issue is out at the end of August, packed full of our favourite new music and our collective advice on how to survive till next festival season.
