Turning 5 Years Old

On June 30th 2012 we had the idea to start up a blog. At the time, we never knew of any other bloggers, we didn't realise how big the online world was and we had no idea how much of an impact our descision to create a blog would have on us.

It's been five year and all we can say is thank you. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Over the past five years we’ve geeked out about upcoming music and for five years we have had unimaginable support which we cannot thank you enough for.

(Expect the words ‘thank you’ a lot in this post.)

First of all, we would like to say thank you to every single person for following us, for putting up with our gig photo spams and our semi-regular posts.

Thank you for your time, your support and for sharing our enthusiasm. You’ve been with us through some of our best and worst moments, our happiest nights and utter heartbreak.

Thank you for giving a small blog like us a chance.

Thank you to all the musicians we’ve worked with and interviewed over the past five years. It really means the world to us to have been given such opportunities.

Thank you so much to the people who have ever sent over their new favourite track or their own new single or EP. Thank you for your trust and thank you so much for giving us the chance to work with you all.

Thank you to the people who have given us tickets and photo passes, which have been some of the best nights of our lives – and that is no exaggeration. Your kindness will never be forgotten.

In a way, this is what we all now live for. Not only has this blog impacted our lives over the past five years, it has changed our lives forever. Through this blog we have had so many opportunities and it even helped us secure places on our dream university courses.

We are not a normal blog. We never have been and you probably already know that.

Five years ago we set out with one ambition, to write about upcoming music. If people read our posts or if we were just shouting out into the never ending void that is the internet, we didn’t care. We were writing about something we loved and that’s all that mattered.

That’s all that still matters. We’re able to do something we love and it is all thanks to the people who have given us a chance over the past five years.

Today, Shybutlovesmusic turns 5 years old and we still can’t believe that this blog has made it this far.

Thank you for the past five years and thank you in advance for all that is to come.

Love,

Shybutlovesmusic.
