Glastonbury 2017: Who You Don't Want To Miss

It's that time of year again. Glastonbury is finally upon us. In two days time, one of the UK's biggest music festivals kicks off once again at Worthy Farm for its 47th year.

Although we won't be at the festival this year, it doesn't mean we're missing out. As usual, everything will be available on BBC Iplayer pretty soon after the set itself and you can listen to live performances on BBC Radio 1.

The festival hasn't officially started yet but we already know the acts you do not want to miss out on, whether you're braving the mud or staying at home and camping in your living room.

Declan McKenna

Few acts belong at Glastonbury more than Declan McKenna. Returning to the first festival he ever had the chance to play, the now 18-year-old comes home to Worthy Farm.

With his debut album 'What Do You Think Of The Car?' due to be released in just one months time (on July 21st), the socially aware indie sell out will undoubtedly draw a huge crowd and no doubt have with him an abundance of glitter.

Foo Fighters

After a two-year delay, Foo Fighters are returning to Glastonbury.

Set to play in 2015, the band pulled out of their headline slot after lead singer Dave Grohl fell off a stage in Sweden and broke his leg. Although it did lead to Florence + The Machine's incredible last-minute headline set, we're hoping Foo Fighters actually make it onto the Pyramid stage this year and give us the performance we've literally been waiting years for.

Circa Waves

Not so long ago Circa Waves released their second album 'Different Creatures' and still we're playing it on repeat. No doubt bringing a set full of new tracks and a few old favourites, the Liverpudlian four-piece are back.

With a big festival season lined up after an already huge run of dates earlier this year, Glastonbury is the only way to truly kick things off again.

The Amazons

With a top 10 debut album is it any surprise Reading four-piece The Amazons are possibly one of the fastest rising bands of 2017?

Anticipated for greatness, featuring on Radio 1's 'Sound Of 2017', playing at some of the years biggest festivals (UK and worldwide) and touring with the likes of You Me At Six, The Amazons are only just beginning their rise to becoming stadium sellouts and festival headliners.

Rat Boy

We love Rat Boy. (Just thought we'd say it again for the hundredth time on this blog.) Earlier this month, he (Jordan Cardy aka Rat Boy) gave us the news we were waiting for - the release date of his debut album. Named 'Scum' we'll be able to hear it in all its glory on release day August 11th (which really isn't that far away).

To keep us going until then, he released his latest single 'Laidback' just yesterday, the follow up to 'Revolution'. Two tracks which will be right at home at this festival.

Glastonbury is the precipice of festivals. Once you've headlined the Pyramid stage, where do you go next? Where else has that same sort of history and grandeur?

As a festival, it's sound has changed over the years and whilst some stereotypes still do remain surrounding the festival (the mud being one of them) lots of things have changed. This year especially there seems to be a wealth of upcoming and emerging new artists who belong there in their own right. There is a reason the John Peel stage is one of the festivals most visited. The festival has a history with emerging musicians and this years line up again adds to the already huge history of this festival.

The next Glastonbury isn't till 2019 (2018 is a fallow year) so if you love this festival the way we do, watch as much of it as you can, onsite or at home.
