Sound Of 2016 : Pretty Vicious

Pretty Vicious.

My (slight) obsession of this year.

My sound of next year.

With already huge festival sets, UK tours and being crowned the hottest record in the world multiple times, Pretty Vicious may just be the biggest introducing band of 2016.

For the last few years there's been bands who I have been blown away by. Their music is always incredible and so underrated. However, when they hit the main stages, they are no longer the underdogs.

Last year I seemed to forever write about Catfish and the Bottlemen, who went on to have an incredible 2015, dominating America and selling out yet another huge UK tour.

This year, my writings been dominated by another Welsh band, Pretty Vicious, who I slightly love. They are bound to find the same success as other now huge bands who were championed by BBC Introducing.

They may only have 5,000 Twitter followers and just passed 1,000 subscribers on Youtube, but twice they've been crowned Annie Macs Hottest Record In The World, with three Radio One first plays (in one year) with Its Always There, National Plastics and Are You Ready For Me.

They are already in playlists with bands like the Libertines, Florence + The Machine, Foals, The Bohicas and the 1975. These are bands with huge international success, and this band are the next to find it.

What I love the most about this band, besides their music, is how young they are. They've got a collective age of under 20, yet have played alongside Neon Waltz, supporting Noel Gallagher, Johnny Marr, Swim Deep, Manic Street Preachers and Nothing But Thieves.

With already anthemic songs and a sound that could inspire a generation, this band are already half way to becoming festival headliners, only proven by their sets at some of the biggest music festivals of the summer. Reading and Leeds, Isle Of Wright, Summer Sonic (Japan), Dot To Dot and Glastonbury being within the list.

For next year, I am hoping the band release an EP. An album would be incredible but for the album to do this band any justice, I think it needs a build up. Its needs time. Time for more and more people to discover the band and anticipate an album. Each single released creates more anticipation and excitement. It makes people want to see them live and crave their music, which some people already do (myself included).
