The Golden Debut Album

Welsh indie-rock quartet Catfish and the Bottlemen are going from strength to strength. After two sold out UK tours and a debut album in the UK's top 10.

However, in the last six months this band have become one of the biggest upcoming bands in the world, touring with the Kooks in Australia, going on a tour in the US with over 20 shows, appearing on the Late Show with David Letterman and now they've levelled up again.

Their debut album 'The Balcony' has gone gold.

No band deserve this more. Their honest, hard working and down to earth. They know what its like to come from the very beginning, living on very little and constantly working until their where they are now, selling out full tours, playing huge festivals, topping the Itunes Alternative chart, while still achieving more and more.

In January The Balcony was released in the USA, with the band appearing on the Late Show with David Letterman days before, giving some Americans their first glimpse into a life with Catfish.

Earlier this year Noel Gallagher said the working class in Britain don't have a voice any more in the British music scene and Van McCann, lead singer of Catfish and the Bottlemen, agreed with him.

McCann is known for his working class, hard grafting attitude. All you have to do is watch his award speeches, interviews and his overwhelmed speeches when the band play live to see his down-to-earth nature.

McCann, talking to NME about Gallghers comments, said "What Noel Gallagher said resonates with me... It's hard, not many people would live in a van for seven years. We lived off five quid a day, you could buy a pack of fags and a burger a night - not many bands would do that any more. But if you want something enough, you'll do it. It's the same with anything. If you want to be a footballer, you kick a ball against a wall every single night, and the ones who go in and have their tea are the ones that don't make it."

McCann's love for music, his band and his fans is shown throughout everything he does, including taking his best friend Larry everywhere with them, making him their roadie. McCann admits to having another full album written, which is no surprise considering they never seem to stay still, and with his hope of playing to stadiums one day, nothing is going to stop this welsh boy from doing it.

The Balcony is Catfish and the Bottlemen's real worldwide starting point, after their years of endless touring and promoting and now their beginning to make it.

Its their beginning, but what a beginning it is.
