Lead up to BBC Radio 1's Big weekend in Glasgow

Open air festivals are common in Britain. Europe's largest free ticketed festival, Radio Ones Big Weekend, isn't like most festivals. It moves and this year its in Glasgow.

Next weekend Glasgow will host BBC Radio 1's annual Big Weekend. For two days and three nights Glasgow see over 60,000 people for the weekend.

George Square on Friday the 23rd will see sets from Tiesto, Martin Garrix, Pete Tong, Zane Lowe, Annie Mac and Danny Howard, for a full night of dance music.

Saterday and Sunday at Glasgow Green will see the likes of Coldplay, Katy Perry, Paolo Nutini, Ed Sheeran, Bastille, Jake Bugg, Rita Ora, The Vamps, The 1975 and Kings of Leon.

The best part of the Big Weekend for me is the In New Music We Trust Stage. This showcases some of the worlds best up and coming artists along with some of the worlds biggest artists like Kasabian, You Me At Six, Sub Focus, Twin Atlantic, Bombay Bicycle Club, CHVRCHES, Gorgon City, Clean Bandit, Catfish and the Bottlemen and The Kooks.

60,000 tickets sold out in 30 minuets, with 50% being kept for the residents of Glasgow. Who ever got tickets were lucky, so I'm spending the weekend watching live from my room and wishing I was there.

Its an amazing event to watch and allows starting musicians to play to a huge crowd. It never disappoints.
