Tenement Trail 2017: 3 Must See Acts

One of the countries best new music events is back for its fifth year. Of course, we're talking about Tenement Trail.

With over 50 acts descending on 10 venues across Glasgow, the line up is full of the best new and upcoming musicians in the country.

So before we head off this weekend into the city for the festival, we thought we'd give you our 3 must-see acts. If you're going to this year's festival, you will undoubtedly find us somewhere at these sets.

1. Vistas

Our definitive MUST SEE act at Tenement Trail 2017, without a doubt, are Vistas.

The Edinburgh four-piece have had us hooked since the release of their debut track 'Sign Language' at the start of last year. Since then, they've released four follow up tracks 'Medicine', 'Feel Alive', 'Strong Swimmer' and 'Hold Me', all of which we love equally.

With a handful of tracks and a single EP to their name, the band have already began to make a name for themselves, recently supporting the likes of Clean Cut Kid and The View at Barrowlands. Our first time seeing the band live was at this year's King Tuts Summer Sessions where the band supported our other favourites in Model Aeroplanes. Their live gigs already consist of devout fans and at the same time have people hearing the band for the very first time.

It won't be long until Vistas are headlining this festival for themselves, so come and see them this weekend - or you'll regret it for sure.

2. Anteros

Named after the Greek god of requited love, an abundance of glitter with leather jackets is how we sum up Anteros. Creating dreamy indie pop with enough heavy baselines to show they're a bit pissed off, Anteros are the epitome of glizty cool.

We first came across the band online in late 2015 through their debut self-title EP and thought they were interesting - pursuing a sound that nods back to past decades. Then 2016 happened. Releasing a handful of tracks and a brand new EP, the band brought their past and future together; before diving into this year with brand new music once again.

In the three short years since forming, the band have already played at major UK festivals including the Other Stage at Glastonbury and have toured across the country multiple times with the likes of Blaenavon and with Two Door Cinema Club on their huge return tour earlier this year.

And it just isn't us who have shown this band a lot of love by having every new track on repeat for the entire week it comes out (and watching every video to go with), Radio One have previously crowned 'The Beat' as their 'Single of The Week' and the band were included as one of Annie Mac's 'New Names for 2016'.

3. Neon Waltz

Hailing from the northest of the north, Neon Waltz are playing this year's Tenement Trail and we cannot contain our excitement. After the release of their long awaited debut album, we know realise we have waited far too long to see this band live. And at this years festival, things have finally lined up for us.

The band are no strange name on this blog, so we don't need to say much other than see this band at Tenement Trail. Their sound is completely theirs and now feels like the best time to see Neon Waltz before the big things on their horizon come to the forefront.

Of course this is only our top 3, the acts we WILL be seeing. Others from this years line up who you should definately try to check out are locals LUCIA and Declan Welsh And The Decadent West. The Ninth Wave, a band quickly rising through the Glaswegian music scene who recently released their debut EP are in this years line up beside the bedroom project gone right, Fauves, who debuted a matter of months ago as a band playing live for the first time in King Tuts. Also, fully female four piece from London The Big Moon are playing alongside bluesy powerhouse Emme Woods and Catholic Action, who are just weeks away from releasing their debut album to the world. Edinburgh four piece Retro Video Club are going to be there along with BBC Introducing North East's golden boy, coming fresh from Boardmasters, Sam Fender. Our favourites in SWAY and Static Union are also going to be there who both seemed to have played most of, if not all, small venues in the city.

Tickets for Tenement Trail are still on sale which you can find, along with any other information abotu the festival, at www.tenementtrail.com.
