All Time Low and You Me At Six Live at the Hydro, Glasgow Review

To all those who question the existence of post concert depression I ask you one question.
Have you ever seen your heroes live, in the flesh, in front of you ?

If you have, see that feeling where you come to realise you might never see them again. Where your happy, elated, but at the same time hit with a sudden sadness ? This is the symptoms of post concert depression.

After last night, where All Time Low and You Me At Six played an incredible gig at the Hydro in Glasgow, I'm still in recovery mode.

The support act was Walk The Moon, who are an incredible indie-rock-alt band from Ohio, who have toured with Panic! At the Disco and the Kaiser Chiefs previously.

Their single 'Shut Up and Dance' went to number one the the US Alt Charts in 2014, taken from their newest album, released in December last year, 'Talking is Hard.'

I've adored Walk The Moon since I first heard them when they released 'Anna Sun' in 2012, so seeing them live was incredible for me and an opportunity I didn't think I'd ever experience. Their such a loveable band, filling their songs with memorable choruses and a energetic atmosphere I didn't think was possible to capture.

Seeing All Time Low was a first for me. Something I've waited over five years for. Last year I saw Fall Out Boy and their like All Time Low, their both big American bands who do a lot of touring in the states and around the world but they don't come to Glasgow much, so when you get the chance to see them you have to take it with open arms.

All Time Low are just incredible live. They played their older songs like 'Dear Maria', 'Neverland', 'I don't feel like dancing' and one of my absolute favourites 'Lost In Stereo', along with their newest single 'Somethings Gotta Give.'

Their on-stage energy is unbelievable, relentlessly having the energy to jump about the full set. Alex's voice is identical to all the albums and singles. Alex and Jack's friendship is so genuine, its not put on for a show or to get attention, its just them. They do seem immature and this was shown from the start when Jack puts a fans bra on Alex. The hilarity however died off when Alex introduced 'Therapy' with one of his iconic speeches.

Alex is know for his speeches before playing 'Therapy', which is one of the bands most moving songs in my opinion. Its a song and a story, about an arrogant boy but it has another depth, where it reaches people who are struggling, confused, needing help, sad and acts as a pick me up. It might not make people feel immediately better but it lets people know they aren’t alone in the way they feel and that other people do go through the same stuff as them, that their not alone.

Alex always says a speech before the song, telling people the song is for anyone who is told how they feel or what their doing is wrong, who've been betrayed, who are too scared to stand up for themselves, who are being told to change but shouldn't have to for other peoples sake, who should do what they love and ignore everyone else, who shouldn't change no matter what for anyone. Alex's speech is inspiring to see live, whereas before I have only ever read it or seen it on others videos. He puts his full heart into what he's saying and you know that he really means it all.

All Time Low Live TherapyIts a moment of solemness in their set, where everyone's torches and camera lights come on, where the full crowd sing the chorus perfectly, its just a nice thing to experience.

After All Time Low was You Me At Six, who are again just incredible live. I saw this band last year on my 16th birthday, which was the best present ever, and seeing them again was just amazing.

The band were incredible as ever, even with Josh with a damaged leg from earlier in the tour. Again, like All Time Low, they played a mix of songs some older and some of their newer ones from Cavalier Youth. This show was so much different from last March where they focused on the newer music from Cavalier Youth which had just come out two months before the show. This time round the band could play songs from all albums, new and old, making it not as much a promotional tour and more of a show celebrating the bands success, and favourite songs.

You Me At Six Live Reckless

I adore both bands, All Time Low for being loveable Americans who can act like five year old's sometimes, who are inspirations to so many people worldwide, and You Me At Six, who can have people singing back every lyric perfectly to every song they've written whether it be 'Reckless', 'Fireworks' or 'No One Does It Better'.

At Reading and Leeds last year You Me At Six played main stages, with a guest appearance from Alex from All Time Low for 'Fresh Start Fever' - which is linked to at the end of the post.  All Time Low this year are playing the main stage at Reading and Leeds in August this year which will be incredible no doubt.

In April All Time Lows new album "Future Hearts" will be released by Hopeless Records, which can be pre-order on their official site alltimelow.com
